It is No Dream: The Life of Theodor Herzl

This documentary chronicles the mission of the father of modern-day Zionism, which led to the contentious 1948 carving and creation of the state of Israel in Palestine. His vision, that some say he pursued neurotically, is set against a backdrop of European anti-Semitism—and some personal bigotry on the side. The film hasn’t received the most glowing reviews, with criticism that it glazes over historical consequences like the displacement of Palestinians, the stinging loss of their homes and land to settlers, and the lingering tragedies of Zionism. So why not ask director Richard Trank about it and decide for yourself?
