Happy National Unfriend Day! Jimmy Kimmel Hopes You Celebrate By Whittling Down Your Facebook Friends List


That Jimmy Kimmel, he's been on a roll lately. 

For Halloween, he asked parents to tell their kids they ate all of their candy and then videotape their responses. The results? Way more tears than should ever be shed over high-fructose corn syrup and some really freaking cute kids. If you haven't watched the Youtube video, you should.  
And, like candy, Kimmel's keeping with his theme of poking fun at things people accrue copious, and probably not healthy, amounts of. His next target: Facebook friends. (Today is the second annual National Unfriend Day, so go destroy some relationships!)

“These people are not your friends. No one has 2,000 friends,” Kimmel says, in a Los Angeles Times story. “Everyone I work with is on Facebook all the time. I just don't understand why they're interested in what somebody they went to the fifth grade with is having for lunch … I decided it would be a good idea to encourage people to whittle those friends down.” 

Kimmel reportedly has a personal Facebook, but uses an alias and only has eight friends.
