Gingerbread AT-AT Overruns Discovery Science Center

Let's face it: making gingerbread houses is more fun than eating gingerbread houses because the stuff tastes like papier-mache made from brown grocery bags. But all that is beside the point when your gingerbread masterpiece is an Imperial AT-AT walker from The Empire Strikes Back.

Rachel Klemek of Irvine's Blackmarket Bakery entered this gingerbread creation for the Discovery Science Center's 6th Annual Gingerbread Competition. Technically, it's not a gingerbread house, but Klemek's creation better win because it's awesome!

We're saying that also because Klemek's creation straddles two ongoing exhibits hosted at the Discovery Cube in Santa Ana. Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination, and The Science of Gingerbread.

Think you can out-do Klemek's creation? Entries for this season's gingerbread competition are accepted until this Monday, December 5. Good luck!

Discovery Science Center. 2500 N. Main St. Santa Ana; (714) 542-2823.
