Gavin Degraw and David Cook

A Gavin DeGraw/David Cook tour makes a lot of sense. They’re both quite popular with middle-aged women, and they both got their big breaks thanks to network TV. DeGraw’s song “I Don’t Want to Be” has served as the opening theme to the CW’s One Tree Hill since 2003, a show that (believe it or not) returns next spring for its ninth (!) and final season. Cook, of course, notched an American Idol victory in 2008, making him perhaps the last Idol winner people can reliably identify (sorry, Lee DeWyze). They also both released new records in 2011, and both Cook’s This Loud Morning and DeGraw’s Sweeter debuted in the Billboard top 10—some needed good news for DeGraw in particular, who was assaulted, hit by a taxi and subsequently hospitalized in New York City this past August.
