Forever 21 Steals From John Mayer and David Choi

When Audrey Magazine reported that Forever 21 stole the lyrics of OC native and YouTube star David Choi's “That Girl” and put it in the shirt you see above, we weren't surprised. After all, this is the same company that bootlegged Minor Threat shirts without the band's permission and have co-opted ideas wholesale from various designers–everything from patterns to styles to exact clothing copies.

“I'm disappointed that Forever 21 [because I felt] like they didn't have to ask permission to use my lyrics in their commercial product, but I'm also flattered at the same time,” Choi said when it was brought to his attention. (Check out the video of the song after the jump.)

What the Audrey Magazine post didn't mention is that this shirt doesn't just lift lyrics from Choi's song, it also printed lyrics from various John Mayer songs: “Daughters,” “Your Body is a Wonderland” and “Heartbreak Warfare.”

We're willing to bet Forever 21 didn't ask for permission to use those
lyrics either, but we sent out an inquiry to John Mayer's people asking
about it anyway.

In the meantime, you can try to figure out which lyrics in Choi's “That
Girl” can be found on the shirt.
