Five Porn Stars Who've Attempted Music Careers

Earlier this week we examined both hip-hop artists who would make interesting adult film stars as well as rap stars who've actually attempted creating their own erotica. As shocking as that was, would you believe that plenty of porn's biggest names have actually attempted to crossover into music as well? While there was a recent trend of adult film actors exchanging sex in front of a camera to rocking the party behind turntables at guest DJ gigs, efforts to crossover into mainstream music success actually go back several decades.

We at the Weekly decided it's only fair we take a look back at five of the most memorable porn stars who've attempted music careers.

Lolo Ferrari – “Airbag Generation” 1996

While the late Lolo Ferrari was most known for taking her clothes off, she wore many proverbial hats. Along with hardcore erotica, she was a fixture of European comedy sketch television and even attempted a singing career. Her 1996 single “Airbag Generation” is a checklist of European excess condensed into a four-minute clip.

Ron Jeremy – “Freak of the Week” 1996

While VH1 named it the all time “Least Hip-Hop Moment,” we at the Weekly ride for Ron Jeremy's collaboration with DJ Polo “Freak of the Week.” The only thing more surprising than the video's awesome celebrity cameos is the fact that Ron Jeremy has both a great sense of rhythm and the charisma to carry a rap record. This song actually charted, and still makes for the perfect addition to any “Booty Bass” mix.

Heather Hunter – “So Serious” 2005

Heather Hunter also hit the charts through her different music incarnations. Originally debuting as an R&B singer in the 1990s, Hunter found herself more comfortable rapping. With “So Serious” being a staple of our all time favorite late night video block “BET Un:Cut,” it's also worth noting that Hunter has rapped alongside some of hip-hop's most respected names, including holding her own on a 2001 track with Kool Keith and Esham.

Brian Pumper – “Rick Ross Dis” 2009

Brian Pumper first gained attention in rap circles in 2004 when a multitude of hip-hop gossip columnists and rumor spreaders mistook him “in action” for Lloyd Banks. While clearing the air that the G-Unit member wasn't setting things “on fire” in the adult film world, he made it known that he was fond of rocking the mic himself. While his freestyles and videos have popped up in various media, his most seen clip is probably his response record to Rick Ross making a snide comment in an interview.

Sasha Grey & aTelecine – “Wind Pipe Machine” 2011

Sasha Grey's story is the type that the internet loves to tell again and again. She made her name as a porn star and left to pursue other interests, and wound up making headlines last year when a group of parents vocalized that they weren't comfortable with having her read to their children at a school. Grey has also made industrial music with her group aTelecine. We at the Weekly agree that their sound is as far away from the soundtrack to an adult film as one could get.
