First Listen: Here Comes the Summer: Vol. 2

Though the title seems a little passe (it is August, after all), the punk-powered grit behind forthcoming local compilation Here Comes the Summer Vol. 2 is set for release this week. Packing a hefty amount of sunshine, surf and sweat, the comp primarily  features bands from Long Beach as well as some scattered talent in LA, OC and Portland.

In celebration of HCS Vol. 2, many of the contributing bands assembled for three album release shows in Long Beach, starting Aug. 7 at Fern's Cocktails in Long Beach. The line-up includes Dante vs. Zombies, Some Days, Blood Bath and Los Cometas. The shows continue at Alex's Bar on Aug. 8 and the Prospector on Aug. 9 with a different set of bands for each night. Check out a sample of comp after the jump.

Displaying a decent cross scetion of LB's garage and punk scene, the new comp showcases a mixture of veteran bands, down low side projects and promising up and comers.
The release of the 14-track CD features music from aggressive LB faves Gestapo Khazi as well as Deadly Finns, Blood Bath, Clorox Girls, Dva Damas, Fiction, Green Screen Door, Holly Roller, Los Cometas, Some Days, Tijuana Panthers, Neon Black and the Prisms, Matt Israeli Cool and His Experimental Rugs and Hawaii.
Speaking of Hawaii, we have a track, aptly titled “Hawaii Theme,” from the LB-based four-piece to share with you. Check it out:
