Eating Raoul: The Musical

Midnight movie enthusiasts have their own set of Saints, one of whom is actor/writer/director Paul Bartel, who not only helmed the classics Death Race 2000 and Lust in the Dust (making more out of Divine than John Waters ever seemed able to), but was also the creative genius behind this 1982 dark comedy in which a man and his wife (played by cult queen Mary Woronov) decide to bump off their snotty, swinger neighbors for profit and pabulum. Converted into an off-Broadway musical ten years later, come and get it at Stages, where they’re serving up the giddy grotesquery with a side of songs such as “Hot Monkey Love,” all rolled into a putrid pastry of plot that should provide you with a few new and much-needed cannibalism jokes—eat yer heart out, Waters.

Fridays-Sundays. Starts: June 14. Continues through Aug. 4, 2013
