Philadelphia band Dr. Dog did it themselves for their most recent album—it’s called B Room, named for part of the homemade studio they put together at Dog HQ to keep inspiration high and interference to a minimum. On B Room, the good doctors put their own particular spin on a variety of bedrock influences, and while the spirit of Wings—the early rockin’ Wings of Wild Life, definitely—is still flying high, there are also nods to '70s soul (on opener “The Truth”) and Lou Reed’s solo albums, plus plenty of overcranked analog keyboard on stand-out songs like “Cuckoo.” It might be called B Room, but there’s more than a few A-sides here. They play tonight with Moses Sumney, who you should be going to see right now. Trust us.
