Yesterday marked the beginning of a year-long expansion plan of Disneyland's Main Street, U.S.A. that will affect many the street's current eateries. The plan also includes a 2012 debut of a new bakery in the park.

Disney doesn't seem to be losing the renovation momentum they've been showing in both parks this year, and the restaurants along Main Street, U.S.A. are next on their expansion agenda.
The expansion began yesterday with work on the upcoming all-new eatery Jolly Holiday Bakery Café. The new cafe will be located at the northwest end of Main Street, just before the turn into Adventureland, on the site of the now old Plaza Pavilion. Most recently, the building was home to the Annual Passport Center after it moved from the Bank of Main Street last year. Jolly Holiday Bakery Café will feature a full menu of food items and baked goods, as well as offer a wide area of outdoor patio seating for patrons. The bakery is slated to bow in January 2012.
Upon completion of Jolly Holiday, the Blue Ribbon Bakery (an early morning Main Street pit stop for many park goers) will close its doors to make way for what is expected to be an indoor seating area for Carnation Café. Carnation, which lies just to the south of Blue Ribbon, currently only features an outdoor patio. Carnation Café will also close at the beginning of 2012 and re-open sometime next summer.
Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor and the Candy Palace will also be expanding with the renovation. The new design will allow more room for patrons to watch on as sweets are created right before their eyes. Both Gibson Girl and Candy Palace will close in January 2012 as well, with each re-opening sometime in the spring.
I'm a little bummed to see Blue Ribbon Bakery go, mostly because I usually began my Disneyland days with a cup of black coffee from their; still, the line was always pretty horrendous, mostly because of the cramped area. Here's hoping Jolly Holiday has a lot more space… and better coffee.
