“This is not done with any type of belligerency.”
–The hilariously disingenuous statement earlier this month by Congressman Dana Rohrabacher while visiting Catalina Island to confront a lone Mexican consulate official for distributing ID cards in the resort town of Avalon. To launch his June 3 election year stunt, Rohrabacher issued a “MEDIA ADVISORY” encouraging journalists to interview him at 7:45 a.m. “next to the Queen Mary,” at 10 a.m. inside St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Avalon and at 11:45 a.m. at the Long Beach Helipad upon his return. It worked. The congressman–who first ran for office 22 years ago while passionately arguing for term limits–was so elated with the Los Angeles Times coverage that he posted its article on his official House website.
