Think choosing a favorite musical is nearly as impossible as picking a favorite Real Housewife? We'd like to think playwright Joe Godfrey feels that way. Back with members of the original cast, Claptrapp, or the Sound of Musicals hits Theatre Out, OC's premier LGBT theater company, for another round of late-night comedy and song. Based very loosely on the 1965 cinema classic The Sound of Music, this production follows nun Maria (Jeffery Rockey), kicked out of the convent for barely keeping it in her pants, who falls hard for Captain Von Krapp—but can they stay safe from the Nazis and Von Krapp's angry ex-fiancee? By weaving together lyrics from a whopping 40 other musicals, Godfrey takes the best parts of Broadway and wraps them up into one fun-loving little package.
Fridays, Saturdays, 11 p.m. Starts: Aug. 19. Continues through Aug. 27, 2011
