Circle Mirror Transformation

For the past 55 years, our New York sister paper, The Village Voice, has bestowed Obie Awards on the year’s best off-Broadway plays. Circle Mirror Transformation won the coveted awards for both Best New American Play and Best Director in 2010, and it made it onto the Top 10 lists of The New York Times and The New Yorker. Written by Annie Baker and directed by Sam Gold, this play follows a summer acting class in Vermont led by Marty K and comprises a former actress, a 16-year-old with attitude, a recently divorced carpenter and Marty’s hippie husband. Watch as the acting exercises and games played during the class create drama and reveal secrets about the five characters.

Tuesdays-Sundays, 7:45 p.m. Starts: Jan. 9. Continues through Jan. 30, 2011
