Charlie Murphy

At the beginning of Charlie Murphy’s career, he was known as Eddie Murphy’s brother who played the evil gangster in Chris Rock’s classic hip-hop parody, CB4. Years later, Murphy reappeared on Chappelle's Show, telling stories about celebrities from the ‘80s. We all remember his yarn about out-of-control Rick James—“I’m Rick James, bitch!”—and the day Prince schooled everyone in basketball and made pancakes. And while Murphy’s roles have changed, one thing stayed consistent—cocaine is one hell of a drug—we mean, his comedy routine is fresh and stomach-churning hilarious. This week at the Irvine Improv, witness the evolution of a great comedian. You never know what unbelievable story you’ll hear when listening to Murphy talk about his colorful past. Maybe Arsenio Hall challenged him to a competitive eating contest.
