Food holidays are great. Then again, drink holidays are even better. So if you actually need an excuse to get out there tonite and blow off some steam, here are a handful to make the choice about where to go easier.
The Rooftop Lounge/K’ya Bistro
Two restaurants in one spot mean you have a decision to make. We’re suckers for an ocean view, so it’s upstairs we go. Look for specials on all the margaritas, including the Spicy, Cadillac and Skinny Patron ones. 1289 S. Coast Hwy., Laguna Beach, (949) 497-2446; www.rooftoplagunabeach.com.
Puesto Perfect Margs (say that five times fast after downing a couple) are $10 off when you order by the pitcher. And now that there are two locations in Irvine, you have double the chances of having a good time. 8577 Irvine Ctr. Dr., (949) 608-9990 OR 3311 Michelson Dr., (949) 608-7272; www.eatpuesto.com.
One of our favorite cocktail bars, Casey at Kimpton Shorebreak’s lively lounge enjoys presenting whimsical cocktail concoctions. His special version is nicknamed Daisy if you Do, featuring Vida mezcal, prickly pear syrup and lime (plus a couple more surprises). Stop by and tell him we said “Hey”. 500 Pacific Coast Hwy., Huntington Beach, (714) 965-4448; www.pacifichideawayhb.com.
House of Blues
Anaheim Gardenwalk’s ode to good music has a weeknight option that isn’t limited to Margarita Day. Stop by between 3-6 p.m., Monday through Friday, for six dollar margs and additional drink specials. Order a smoked pork Queso Dip and jambalaya-packed Bayou Fritters for only four dollars each and call it dinner. 400 W. Disney Way, Ste. 337, (714) 778-2583; www.houseofblues.com.
