From South Park's Trey Parker came Team America: World Police and the multi-Tony Award-winning musical The Book of Mormon—but perhaps none more off-the-wall than Cannibal! The Musical (and that's really saying something). Written by Parker and directed by Curtis Jerome, Cannibal! tells the true story of Alfred G. “Alferd” Packer, Colorado’s only convicted cannibal. Packer was suspected of eating five of his fellow prospectors in the late-1800s when the company got lost in the Rocky Mountains; he was eventually sentenced to 40 years in prison on manslaughter charges. Parker recounts the man’s “search for gold and love” in a hilarious, raunchy, slightly offensive musical based on Parker’s 1993 film of the same name. Bring your appetite—for theater, of course.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 6 p.m. Starts: July 26. Continues through Sept. 14, 2013
