Free the People / Free Your Mind

Cannabis is legal in California, but still considered a controlled substance across the country.  For many people convicted of marijuana-related crimes, it’s been an uphill battle to make a living. Having a felony on record is a huge barrier to employment. Decriminalizing cannabis at the federal level is a sure-fire way to get hundreds of thousands of people out of the criminal justice system. Not only will this save taxpayers millions, but it will also give people a second chance at life. “Free The People / Free Your Mind” is an evening of education, advocacy, and self-care directed toward making a change. The event will start by discussing a proposed amendment to the Federal Controlled Substances Act. Then everyone will write postcards or make calls to elected officials, encouraging them to support the bill. After that will be a short, guided meditation where the intention will be around balance, gratitude, and freedom. The goal is to tune into our own “wholeness” (body, mind, spirit) and send positive energy to our elected officials to shift their perceptions around marijuana.

When: Sunday March 25 at 5pm

Where: 1206 West Gage Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90044
