Turkey Trot

Easy choice, right? Sleep in (it’s a holiday, fer crissake); slurp a few cold ones while the stove’s doing its thing; oink out on turkey and the works; seriously OD on TV football and pumpkin pie—or drag yourself out of bed at like 5 a.m.; get your bleary-eyed self down to the chilly harbor by the recommended 6 a.m. for the annual Dana Point Turkey Trot which benefits Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County; slog through a 10K or 5K (there’s also a kids’ fun run); collapse in a sweaty heap (hopefully at the finish line), swearing that next year you’re actually going to train. Run, so others can eat? We know you’ll do the right thing. (Wake us when you get home, okay?)
The 32nd Annual Dana Point Turkey Trot, corner of Dana Point Harbor Dr. and Golden Lantern, Dana Point, (949) 496-1555; www.turkeytrot.com. 7 a.m. See website for registration, entry fees and parking.
