Student Night with Bill Viola

Orange County Museum of Art celebrates the scholarly by offering university and high-school students free entry to the museum this Thursday. Part II of “The Moving Image: Scan to Screen, Pixel to Projection” exhibition begins with a lecture by video-art maestro Bill Viola, a scholar of Buddhism who has gained international recognition for his theoretical writings, elaborate video environments and stunning visual and aural effects. He is perhaps one of the most interesting living video academics to make art in the medium.
In addition to the lecture, the night features music, food, tours of the exhibit and special screenings of video works from Carlos Amorales’ Discarded Spider .
