Sea of Ink

Although you probably didn’t know it, calligraphy is an actual art form. Its artisans even have their own association, in which you can register yourself as a calligraphic artist—or just learn how to be one from any of the workshops listed online. However, it’s not all about the hand-lettering on your wedding invitations or your framed biblical quote on parchment in the kitchen—calligraphers apparently also draw abstract art. It still has that signature, wispy-pen foundation, of course, and all the whimsicality that watered-down ink invites. And because you probably still can’t imagine it, drop by Soka and get enlightened, which is what they do best anyway.

Mondays-Fridays, 9 a.m. Starts: June 11. Continues through Aug. 20, 2009
