Peanut Butter Wolf

Chris Manak (aka Peanut Butter Wolf) started selling his “new skool of old-school hip-hop” mix-tapes while still a teenager. He went on to produce gems like Lyrical Prophecy’s You Can't Swing This and appeared on the epic Return of the DJ, Vol. 1, the first all-DJ album that helped propel the careers of turntablists like Cut Chemist, Q-bert and Z-Trip into stardom. PB Wolf eventually started his own label, Stones Throw, which in addition to putting out original hip-hop, electronic and experimental jazz recordings, re-issues brilliant funk and hip-hop classics. On Tuesday at Pomona’s Glass House, he embarks on his “999” tour—nine nights in September in nine different area codes in and around LA—starting off performing alongside other Stones Throw artists Mayer Hawthorne, Dam-Funk and Prince Paul.
