Los Proximos is an ongoing series that highlights art, music, performance, film/video and spoken word from the “edge”. Join us for a screening of the film, Blak-Mama (Ecuador, 2007), a surreal fantasy created by Ecuadorian filmmaker/artist/director, Miguel Alvear. Alvear uses motifs that originate from the pop culture worlds of South America, creating friction by juxtaposing flashy, over-the-top popular culture symbols with mythological and art historical references.The film will be followed by live music and dancing from Cumbia group, Buyepongo.
