Blue Note’s seven decades of blues, bop and boogaloo are considered one of the richest back catalogs in jazz. Dispatched to secure the record label’s reputation in the 21st century is a lineup of titans akin to the great “Jazz at the Philharmonic” concerts of the ‘40s. Under the direction of ivory-striker Bill Charlap, trumpeter Nicholas Payton, saxophone prince Ravi Coltrane and a host of other solid players, this fest promises to tear through some of the finer tunes to emanate from Rudy Van Gelder’s soundboard. Although it’s only a month in, this will surely be one of the best jazz shows to grace the county all year.
