Swimming Flying Mammals
The Aquabats

Holy guacamole! The Aquabats are back to save the world from non-superhero rock/punk/ska music, and they're bringing chips. After more than 10 years of squeezing into spandex in pursuit of Space Monster M, the band is taking time out to spread the joy with their Holiday Extravaganza. And yet, they've somehow even found time to film a TV pilot and record a new CD to be released very soon on Nitro Records. While the Aquabats explore their secret identities (bandmate Christian Jacobs is an executive producer of Nickelodeon's smash hit Yo Gabba Gabba!), their fan club the Aquacadets never rests, demanding more music, more mirth, more, more, more.

So, they're bringing out the big gun: DJ Lance Rock, the YGG! fuzzy-hatted orange wonder that will have you dancing “fur” sure.

The Aquabats perform with Hunter's Revenge at the Glass House, 200 W. Second St., Pomona, (909) 865-3802; www.theglasshhouse.us. Fri., 7 p.m. $18. All ages.

Not Vivaldi
Jersey Boys

The latest of the Broadway smash insta-hits, Jersey Boys spans the entire career of the Four Seasons. From their shady inception in a dim Jersey club to their reunion performance at their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame—and all the usual impediments a band encounters: women, money, death, jail and jealousy. Yeah, it is another one of those triumphant despite-all-the-odds kind of stories.

But it's not as serious—or as trite—as it sounds. While it's true Jersey Boys gets you rooting for Valli and the Four Seasons from the very beginning, it's really when the alluring personalities of Frankie, Bob, Tommy and Nick begin to develop and the dozens of recognizable hits start rolling out (“Sherry,” “Big Girls Don't Cry,” “Can't Take My Eyes Off of You” and more) that no one can resist.

Except for that really, really elderly couple who didn't come back after intermission, clearly offended by the show's gratuitous use of the words “fuck” and “asshole” and er, adult situations—you may want to leave the young ones at home for this one. It is Jersey, after all.

Jersey Boys at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, Segerstrom Hall, 600 Town Center Dr., Costa Mesa, (714) 556-2787; www.ocpac.org. Fri., 7:30 p.m.; Sat., 2 N 7:30 p.m. $28.25-$83.25.

Think Hard
Imagine Peace Vigil

This Irvine event is open to the public, which means that anyone can join the sign-holding, protesting and imagining all the people sharing all the world. It's what John Lennon would have wanted. Or you can take the example of the anti-war demonstrators who got together in 1967 and surrounded the Pentagon, meditating in an effort to levitate the building. The building floated (though THE MANwon't admit it), and the Vietnam War ended just seven short years later! But seriously, if you don't exercise your free speech, you lose your free speech. Give peace a chance, and see if you don't like it better.

Imagine Peace Vigil meets on the corner of Culver and Michelson drs., Irvine. Every Fri., 4-5 p.m.

  1. I recently tried CBD gummies from this website https://www.cornbreadhemp.com/products/full-spectrum-cbd-gummies for the prime leisure and was pleasantly surprised next to the results. Initially skeptical, I found that it significantly helped with my desire and be in the land of nod issues without any remarkable side effects. The fuel was serene to utter, with definite dosage instructions. It had a indulgent, vulgar grain that was not unpleasant. Within a week, I noticed a marked convalescence in my all-inclusive well-being, ardour more serene and rested. I know the regular approach to wellness CBD offers and aim to go on using it.
