Frankenstein in Love

Clive Barker is a name synonymous with horror. What you already know is that he’s directed a handful of films and authored more than twenty books, all of which have no doubt left you checking under your bed at night. What you might not know, however, is that Barker, intent on scaring us in every medium possible, has also penned several plays. One such play, Frankenstein in Love, is being performed this month at the Hunger Artists Theater. In it, a suspiciously disfigured revolutionary overthrows a South American country while in search of the infamous Dr. Frankenstein. Don’t be fooled by the playful title; as Barker himself once put it, “Frankenstein in Love is a play designed to disturb and scare its audience.” What better way to spend an October night?

Fridays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: Oct. 2. Continues through Nov. 1, 2009
