Argentinean born artist Claudio Gallina brings his paintings, drawings, video and installation to the Museum of Latin American Art. The central focus of “El Teatro de la Memoria/A Theater of Memories” seems to be childhood and the classroom, but many of the pieces resemble some fucked up dimension, dripping with a repetitive Escher vibe with a translucent, hazy fog whitewashing subjects and settings, creating dreamlike sequences. Gallina once stated, “All I really need to know, I learned in kindergarten.” Not exactly a sentiment weNd thoroughly agree with, but the guyNs got a point: education and the schoolroom environment really do shape our behavior, personality, opinions and, essentially, the world as we know it.
