30th Annual Long Beach Blues Festival

Three things you will not take to the 30th Annual Long Beach Blues Festival – weapons, pets or frowns. The organizers are quite specific. What you can take is an expectation of some dazzling music – Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Johnny Winter, Bobby Womack, Sugaray (definitely not Sugar Ray), BB Chung King and the Buddha Heads and a ton more. Also take your appetite (there’s a huge, mouthwatering variety of ethnic – and not so – food vendors) and a thirst, for the beer and wine stands. The festival is a major source of revenue for non-commercial KJAZZ 88.1 FM, SoCal’s #1 jazz and blues station out of CSULB.

Sat., Sept. 5, 2 p.m.; Sun., Sept. 6, 2 p.m., 2009
