BurntZilla Opens TOMORROW In Irvine

The moment we realized their “Under Construction” facade was removed, we flipped a bitch and pulled up to the corner of Culver and Walnut. Pure luck found us face-to-face with all the owners of both Dogzilla and The Burnt Truck, gents we previously interviewed for On the Line. As if our weekend couldn't get any better, the BurntZilla gang informed us final inspection was their last to-do item.

Well, they passed with flying colors. It's full steam ahead for opening day. BurntZilla is working out the kinks as we type this, training a brand new team and stocking inventory. When we asked the gang what loyal followers can look forward to, they had a few morsels to share.

Besides the notorious sliders and zillas, their selection will include bowls. Miniature sourdough bread bowls filled with your choice of spicy chili or chowder. Their breakfast-themed, ice cream cookie desserts are also new, featuring the likes of Cap'n Crunch and Cocoa Pebbles. Everything on the menu is sized mini, so you can share with friends or order a bunch for yourself. Thankfully, the pricing isn't Irvine-sized. Options run between $3 and $4.50, making them the best bang for the buck as far as we're concerned.

Catering inquiries will look forward to BurntZilla menu options, so parties can still get a taste of them without driving there. We are happy to report that both luxe loncheras plan to remain on the road. Lastly, they mentioned the reappearance of a certain fried bologna slider (Yes!). February is quickly becoming our favorite month.

Burntzilla is located at 14413 Culver Drive, Irvine, (949) 392-5995; www.burntzilla.com.
