Bourbon Jones

Dubbed everything from bluesy to rootsy to gospelly, this quartet who formed in 1993 prefer their music to be labeled “Louisiana Soul”—or whatever the bastard son of Tom Waits and the Blind Boys of Alabama might play. Regardless of what they’re called, the thing that sticks is their shake-your-ass wailing and break-your-heart crooning that makes even the most stable of listeners want to chuck it all and hop the next freight car bound for eternity. In fact, their CD Glory Train may be used as a temporary elixir if you really want to pack your bandana and run. Drop in on the guys this week (with the awesome Jay Buchanan opening) and fill up your soul before the trip.
