Both Hands

Since the release of her eponymous first album, Ani DiFranco has been winning over dreadlocked music fans with her honest and touching folk-pop. Resolutely DIY, DiFranco established her own record label to release her work and the albums of like-minded contemporaries, and her steadfast dedication to the causes of gender, sexual, racial and class equality has endeared her to countless numbers of earnest young lefties. Her CDs are filed alongside Tori Amos, Regina Spektor and Bonnaroo's Greatest Hits . Say what you will about the masses of look-alike DiFrancophiles who attend her shows-her creative output has been prolific, her guitar-playing and vocal stylings influential, and her sense of humor and lack of guile quite refreshing in a genre generally dominated by clichéd hacks.
