Blanket Statement

Being Americans, we can appreciate art that has not only form, but function as well. Beautiful and snuggly, quilts have been around longer than our country, and nothing (softly) screams America more than the image of a sewing circle working on a patchwork bed covering to pass down through the generations. Maybe while eating some apple pie and bad-mouthing the Redcoats. The Bowers Museum presents “American Quilts: 200 Years of Tradition,” featuring approximately 30 quilts from its collection, some dating from the foundation of our Republic, all gorgeously intricate. Kind of puts your duvet from Bed, Bath and Beyond to shame.

Tuesdays-Sundays, 10 a.m. Starts: Sept. 20. Continues through March 15, 2008
