Best Venue for Live Music

This room's formula for victory in this category is simple: a consistently eclectic schedule of great bands. When One Day As a Lion, Zack de la Rocha's new band, performed a secret show, the Glass House was the venue they chose. Because of its Goldenvoice affiliation, all the pre-Coachella warm-up shows happen here. FYF's fan-appreciation events are held here. The peripherals: The sound is pretty good; it's a midsized venue, so shows can feel as intimate or as huge as the band want them to be; it's an all-ages venue, yet there's a bar for the over-21 set; there's always free parking in the area; the traffic is never bad getting to a show; it's located in a quaint downtown, with great restaurants you normally wouldn't discover if you weren't so into music. There's also, you know, the nostalgia factor. The Glass House was the only decent place you could watch a show before you were 21, and now that you're older, the venue seems to have grown up as well. It's cleaner, sleeker and, well, less grungy than it used to be. Kind of like you. We hope.
