Best Underage Band

Anyone who naysays this pick needs only visit the band's Myspace page and listen to, say, “Victim By the Prey.” From the full, crisp sound of the track's intro music, it's clear these Huntington Beach kids know how to jam. After a long guitar riff, you'll get hit with front woman Alie Dicus' funky, spot-on voice. As she maneuvers her pitch with ease, commands attention and directs the flow of the song, she'll carry you with her; Dicus can make screaming sound almost pretty (think: Paramore front woman Hayley Williams). That's something most adult singers can't seem to figure out. These young'uns—joining Dicus are Ryan Nelson, Jake Briggs, Anthony Haas and Joey Groth—have done something else a lot of aspiring adult bands haven't: played the House of Blues in Anaheim. What's more, they were nominees in the Best Youth Artist category of this year's OC Music Awards. Rock on, stud muffins!
