Best Place to Massage a Historic Surfboard

Try asking attendants at the Louvre to let you stroke Mona Lisa's face and see where that gets you. At the Surfing Heritage Foundation, not only can you put your hands on some of the oldest, most expensive surfboards in existence, but you can also massage them from top to bottom—if you can reach the top of a 16-foot olo. The Surfing Heritage Foundation is surfers' Cooperstown; visiting hours run from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Boards here date back to the 1900s, and the collection continues to grow. We're told a new, larger, more accessible location is in the works.
