Tall pines tower above this palisades park that has white-water-and-sand views of Capo Beach directly below and plenty of open water. You can also see Doheny Beach and all the comings and goings at the mouth of Dana Point Harbor. Benches are everywhere for sunset viewing or sitting in shade at midday. It's a mellow park, made even quieter by the children's elaborate playsets being located at the far north end by a deep gulley. Other than the ocean view and the unusual presence of pines rather than palms, the coolest thing about Pines Park is its twisty-branched horizontal tree. Gotta love a horizontal tree!
