Corazon De Vida has served orphaned and abandoned children in Baja, Mexico, for more than 20 years, raising funds for orphanages so the kids can get sufficient nutrition, shelter and education. Founder Hilda Pacheco Taylor herself was orphaned at the age of 7 and started Corazon De Vida when she visited her former orphanage as an adult and noticed how many resources it had lost. Today, her organization provides monthly funds to more than 10 orphanages in Baja and runs a university program that helps upward of 45 orphans now enrolled in college or technical school. Plus, day-trips to Tijuana and Baja California are organized on a monthly basis so that volunteers can get to know the orphans through arts-and-crafts activities and a game of soccer. As you can imagine, the work done here isn't just heartwarming for the children, but for the volunteers, too.
