The mark of a good wine bar is how well it brings people together and helps them disengage from the rigors of modern life. The newly opened Two 40 South is fixing to do just that. The dimly lit front room is outfitted with dark wooden cabinetry, a large glass window displaying wooden wine casks and a bar top for patrons to belly up to. There's also a tall, rock-adorned pillar wrapped by a wooden table, perfect for large groups to gather around and discuss which wine from the thousands available they'll sip. Underneath the gorgeous arched brick ceiling lurk small alcoves with gauzy white drapes and low-set tables for those who'd like a little more privacy. The staff is friendly, accommodating and well-versed in the wine selection, thanks to firsthand experience and training. Last we heard, the wine vault is only half-full, but that's no big deal, as it reportedly has room for 12,000 bottles.
