Alerto's is the finest of the many rip-offs of the original Alberto's chain, and it also has the mejor version of the San Diego restaurant's carne asada fries—Mexican meets American with a bunch of jalapeños, chunks of carne asada, cheese, sour cream and mustard thrown in. Not authentically Mexican? You won't care after those last morsels of carne asada lay on the plate, bursting with the juices of its departed brothers.
