The thrift-store portion of domestic-violence agency Laura's House, Laura's House Resale Store gets altruistic on two levels. All proceeds directly support the nonprofit's emergency shelter, transitional housing and counseling programs. Plus, the resale store keeps quality clothing and goods affordable for shoppers, a benefit to both low-income families and frugal spenders. Beyond its big heart, the store offers a nice selection of women's and men's clothing and shoes, as well as home goods, much of it brand-name and all of it well-kept. All donations, of course, are tax deductible.
