Best Blog That Shuttered in 2013

New Media Rockstars was founded in 2011 to cover the burgeoning YouTube scene, and it was great at it. Between the profiles and listicles that are the bread and butter of digital media today, the Irvine-based blog made actual waves, most notably as a platform for then-most-popular-YouTuber-in-the-world Ray William Johnson, as he took on his former YouTube network/production company Maker Studios over the alleged strong-arm tactics it was using to get him to sign a new contract. Nevertheless, the blog was shuttered at the end of August after two years because the site's investor pulled funding, sending another five young journos (as well as a videographer, video editor and designer) into the job market. Sorry, kids! Here's to hoping they pop up somewhere soon!
