Best Alternative to the Perennially Jammed 91

The crown jewel in the county's burgeoning network of bikeways, the Santa Ana River Trail is a 32-mile, almost-completely grade-separated route for bikes, hikes and horses. The trail has water fountains every few miles and good access from either side of every major street that crosses it. On a good day, with a tailwind coming up from the beach, it's just a 45-minute ride by pedal power from where the trail dips under the Riverside Freeway to its end near the 71. Don't believe us? Park your car at the Circle K on Tustin Street on a Thursday afternoon and race the commuters to Corona, laughing the whole way.
