Bellini at Pizzeria Ortica

Don't expect this long and narrow restaurant to be your average hole-in-the-wall pizzeria. Pizzeria Ortica in Costa Mesa provides an upscale and rather authentic taste of Italy with prices to match. Chef/owner David Myers also owns a handful of other successful eateries in Southern California, including Sona in Los Angeles that has received a Michelin star.

Pizzeria Ortica specializes in the thin crust pizzas of Naples, Italy, and has a full bar that serves one of Italy's most popular cocktails, Bellinis.

Bellinis are made with a combination of Prosecco, an Italian sparkling wine, and peach puree. Prosecco is a dry, bubbly wine with light citrus flavors, making it pair well with the sweetness of fresh peach puree. Pizzeria Ortica follows Italian tradition by serving the Bellini in a tall champagne flute. This is a light cocktail that is enjoyed more for its crisp flavors than anything else.

Although the Bellini is pricey at $10, it's worth it to have the true Italian experience in the middle of Costa Mesa.
