Bat Boy: The Musical

Stage musicals we’re really looking forward to: Oral in the Oval: The Bill and Monica Story (reportedly featuring much, uh, humming) and Dethroned: Fall of the King (originally titled Elvis: Return to Sender). Meanwhile, there’s the true, absolutely true we tell you, Bat Boy: The Musical. Torn from the headlines of the now-defunct Weekly World News (whose parent entity was the National Enquirer—enough said), Bat Boy is a mix of Hair, a Sisters of Mercy concert and a reality TV show (you do believe reality TV shows, right?). Half-human, half-bat, the boy made many News covers after being discovered in a West Virginia cave. The show tells the funny and tragic story of his struggles to become an accepted member of society. Hell, we’ve worked with stranger people.

Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: July 9. Continues through Aug. 15, 2010
