Author Lisa See

Like her hometown of Los Angeles, Lisa See is much more than what meets the eye—especially when just grazing the surface while speeding by on the freeway. Don’t be fooled by her strawberry-blond locks—the author of New York Times best-sellers like Shanghai Girls and family memoir On Gold Mountain is a member of one of L.A.’s most prominent Chinese-American families. The great-granddaughter of a Chinese immigrant who set down roots in L.A.’s Chinatown tends to weave her writings around her lineage. Celebrating the acclaim of Snow Flower and the Secret Fan's recent run in theaters and touting a new novel, Dreams of Joy, See stops by OC this month to give a talk at the Newport Beach library.
