Are Headliners Kings of Leon Going to Cancel Their Appearance at Coachella?

The countdown has begun: 72 more days until Coachella. But, as CNN reported yesterday, drummer Nathan Followhill of Kings of Leon tore the bicep on his right arm. The group were forced to cancel a handful of March dates in Australia and South Africa. As you probably know, Kings of Leon are a headlining band at Coachella and are slated to perform April 15. Will they cancel their show? Maybe Blur can replace them. (We can only hope.)

A statement was released following the incident:

“The Frontier Touring Co. regrets to advise that the Kings o Leon tour has been postponed from March 2011 to November 2011 to allow drummer Nathan Followill to recover from surgery for a torn right labrum and bicep,” Frontier's website said.
“A new itinerary is currently being secured for November in Australia and will be advised to fans this week. Ticket holders should hold on to their tickets until further notice.”

Followhill also twittered:

Sorry to all the fans in Australia and South Africa. My bum wing needs more time to heal but we'll be back later this year. Sorry again.

This isn't the first time Kings of Leon have canceled shows this year, either. Last month, the band canceled London's O2 arena show because their tour bus caught on fire. The date was rescheduled for June 2011, but will probably be put on hold as Followhill recuperates. As noted on their official website, “All the Kings of Leon dates, including a headline slot at the 2011 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 15, and Europe dates this upcoming May, June and July will not be affected.” But can we really trust this? We will keep you updated as we hear more.
