Ain’t Misbehavin’

Debuting in 1978 at the Manhattan Theatre Club, this rowdy, raunchy, rip-roarin’ homage to black musicians of the 1920s and '30s was so popular that it transferred to the Broadway stage only one month after it opened. It probably didn’t hurt to have belters like Irene Cara and Nell Carter singing some of the hottest swing in town—most notably, the title song by Fats Waller—and the world responded, bestowing the musical and Carter with Tony awards. Revived many times over (most notably featuring the Pointer Sisters!), now this tribute to the Harlem Renaissance arrives at the little city by the breakwater. Don’t miss this energetic production that’s sure to momentarily chase your troubles away, because when life gets you down, and brother is it down, you better get up and dance.

Wed., Oct. 10; Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Oct. 10. Continues through Nov. 4, 2012
