Like your funny-but-often-embarrassing uncle, Aerosmith only come around to visit once in a blue moon. However, every time they do, it's memorable for better or for worse. It's been seven long years since the group's last album, the covers collection Honkin' on Bobo. A decade has passed since they've released an original studio album, and relations between the members, particularly singer Steven Tyler and lead guitarist Joe Perry, have been strained at best.

Between Tyler's painkiller-prompted rehab stint and American Idol duties, the band has barely seen each other the past two years, and much of their communication has flowed through bitchy press quotations, including one suggesting that the rest of Aerosmith was considering moving forward without Tyler if he didn't recommit to making music. Fortunately (if you still actually care about Aerosmith), they are set to begin recording on their 14th album this summer.
