The founder of Clean Aliso Creek Association (CACA), which later joined other South County environmental groups that spun into the Clean Water Now! Coalition, von Butow is a vocal activist when it comes to water quality, particularly the recreational waters of Aliso Creek and Aliso Beach in South Laguna. His fiery oratories before city councils, county boards and other agencies are often filled with so many varied references they'd make Dennis Miller's head spin.
BREAKFAST: At the Coyote Grill, owner Kim Bryant has da kine Mexican breakfasts and a righteous view of the Pacific Ocean from the deck. It's a bitchen little cantina for happy hour!
LUNCH: Wahoo's. Where else? The fish tacos are to die for, and I heard that commie fucking pinko Matt Coker dines there when interviewing activists.
DINNER: It's a tossup. San Shi Go (the name means 345 in Japanese) is named after its address on South PCH. The second floor offers a bitchen sunset. Jimmy-san is da kine sushi chef. Or there's Javier's Cantina & Grill, which has excellent Sonoran food and an asshole-to-belly-button bar. TONS of watchas (Mexican slang for da kine chicas calientes—hot babes, to you Anglos). (MC)

NANCI WILLIAMSIn her 23 years at Huntington Beach Children's Library, head librarian Williams has overseen its growth from a 4,000-square-foot space hidden downstairs to the present 16,000-square-foot showpiece that houses more than 80,000 books and regularly circulates more books per month than the adult library. We asked her an additional question: Where would you go to eat if you wanted to read a book? “I probably would go to McDonald's,” she said. “I like being around kids. I feel comfortable around them. I don't need it to be quiet for me to read. I do it every day.”
BREAKFAST: Ruby's at the end of the Huntington Beach Pier. I love the panoramic view, especially when the fog rolls in—that's my favorite time. I'll wait for a table by the window. I usually go with an omelet, but they have a lot of healthy choices.
LUNCH: I'd go to New Orleans Caf. It has the best jambalaya around, great catfish, the most authentic New Orleans cuisine. I went to New Orleans for Christmas, went to all the great restaurants, and New Orleans Caf really compares favorably. And it's not a real dressy place. It's very comfortable, very friendly; I really like the service and the two-for-one coupons.
DINNER: I was born in Chicago, and I think BJ's Pizza has the best Chicago-style pizza. It's got a real festive atmosphere, and I love the pizookie. Have you ever had the pizookie? It's kind of a pizza, cookie, ice cream dessert. Oh, it's wonderful. (SL)
