As the thrice-filmed version of a story supposedly inspired by Barbara Stanwyck’s marriage to her first husband, Frank Fay, this timeless rock & roll tragi-tale was originally set to star Carly Simon and James Taylor. But once Babs and then-hairdresser boyfriend Jon Peters got their mitts on it, there was no critic in the world who could derail the box-office hit. See La Streisand reinvent herself, peddle some awesome tunes and dreadful hair, and swoon to craggy-voiced Kris Kristofferson, who looks super-sexy even though his middle name is Norman. It’s over-the-top “Me Decade” all the way, so don’t miss a single note.
