A Clockwork Orange

For movie buffs, the discussion around Stanley Kubrick’s cult classic adaptation of Anthony Burgess' A Clockwork Orange is as polarizing and heated as whether or not Tim Tebow will be a success in the NFL. Some find Kubrick’s portrayal of a futuristic and violent Britain to be an artfully rendered critique on the modern justice system and the future of criminal rehabilitation. Others find the rape scenes, the brutal gang fights, and the subversive narrator, Alex, beyond horrifying and sexually perverse. And, well, you’ll have a great opportunity to make up your own mind when the Regency South Coast Village screens A Clockwork Orange as part of their Classic Film Night. Surely, no matter which side you eventually fall on this debated film, you’ll never forget the first time you hear your humble narrator speak in the futuristic cockney slang—it's a real horrorshow.
